So what?
The JWs still have the Truth!
so here we have, in the verse above, a short list of prohibitions.
why is this list of prohibitions so short?where did this "abstain" list come from?.
first they decided that circumcision not be prohibited (since it is not on the list).
So what?
The JWs still have the Truth!
a brother brought to my attention that there are certain publications (books and brochures) available on jw media in pdf format, both english and russian, on the "banned publications" list.
(pdf, 1.35 mb).
a book for all people (pdf, 7.83 mb, not searchable).
I find the WTs' quoted commentaries next to each publication fascinating! Is it just me? WT is practically telling on itself why certain passages were found offensive by the russian courts. Does not seem far at all that someone will actually read commentaries and ask themselfs the same questions...
From the WT Site below:
Why were these publications declared extremist?
On December 8, 2009, the publications listed below were declared to be “extremist materials” by the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation. Below are statements found in the publications and comments made about them, including the expert conclusions declaring them extremist.—“Expert Conclusions of the Composite Judicial Expert Study Carried Out by a Commission” dated July 15, 2009, Rostov-on-Don; experts: T.N. Kasyanyuk (linguist), S.S. Shipshin (psychologist), and S.N. Astapov (religious expert).
We present the experts’ findings without comment, translated from Russian.
Quotation: “Some religions teach that if a person lives a bad life, after death he will go to a place of fiery torment to suffer forever. This teaching dishonors God.” (Page 64) “Because of the connections that Christmas has with false religion, however, those who want to please God do not celebrate it or any other holiday that has its roots in pagan worship.”—Pages 158, 159.
Religious studies expert: “The fundamental idea of this book is the statement that Jehovah’s Witnesses are the ones whose lives are in harmony with the Bible’s commands; their religion is considered to be the true religion. A number of statements show the negative attitude of Jehovah’s Witnesses toward various features of traditional Christianity.”—Page 12 of the Expert Study (Russian).
Expert linguist: “The reader derives the following negative information from the text: all religions except the religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses understand the Bible incorrectly; their teachings are false and do not correspond to Bible truths; consequently they explain the Word of God and Bible truth incorrectly to people, and the clergymen and theologians of such religions deceive people and lie to them.”—Page 40 of the Expert Study (Russian).
Expert psychologist: “Traditional Christianity is viewed as a false religion.”—Pages 81 and 82 of the Expert Study (Russian).
C'mon, the assessments above are DEAD ON. Is the WT saying that any of the above quotes (and the rest of the quotes pretty much in the same spirit) are false?
No WOOPS, subject statement is correct..
i was beyond mad when i heard this.
it is on page 30 of the wt.. it says "a pioneer named roxana is one who has seen how jehovah provides for his people.
when she asked her employer for permission to take some days off to attend one of our conventions, he angrily retorted that if she went, he would fire her.
...Roxana went anyway, fervently praying that she might keep her job. After that, she felt calm. Sure enough, on Monday after the convention, her boss did fire her. Roxana was perturbed...
She was Perturbed, really?!?!
She was told that she will be fired, goes anyways and wen she is fired she is perturbed?!?!
WTF, are JWs supposed to be really that stupid?
If you are told NOT to touch the fire because you will get burned, you touch regardless and get burned, are you perturbed?!
I am not sure this one works in the Borg's advantage...
what do you make of this.
are they anticipating or experiencing trouble in the field or just promoting scare tactics again?.
Here is my breakdown:
1. A Catholic old lady, who stands by her window and her christendom paraphernalia with a phone in her hand, calls the police on the lonely JW (where is the second minister?) likely for harassment, after telling them 10 times "I don't want your garbage" with no effect. Please note the Lous Vuitton-like bag the JW lady is carrying on field ministry - she may have ignored the warning of the "slave" for simplifying and bought that $1,200 bag..
2. Law enforcement shows up in a VW - definitely not in the US - and politely shows the lady into the car. While the lighter-skinded dude seems cool, the darker one seems a little edgy, keeping his hand over the service weapon, should the lady decide to go for the Glock in her bag.
3. Judge listens and takes notes, under the glowing presentation of defending one's faith. The attorney, presumably in the suit behind the lady, stands emotionless, as if he just swallowed a walking cane. If this is the husband and not the attorney, it's just as bad. The reporters in the background are circa 1980's with their 35mm film cameras and notepads. Most interesting is the bailiff, who seems to be illuminated and enlightened by the given witness and is ripe to be converted.
4. The JW, obviously not learned her lesson, is back on the street peddling the cancer, this time with a partner.
Note both women are married in a strict JW attire....
Excuse me for a minute, I need my bucket....
please, what do you think after reading new article?
i think the watchtower is itself, an abuser of people's religious rights like the right to one's choice of religion.
look, many individuals are stalked over the years, all in the name of religion.
What really pisses me off is that JWs are hitching free rides on the back of established laws and liberties for which they have contributed NOTHING. Infact, their very MO is quite the opposite of "free expression" of one's self. Someone from the ACLU should call them on it and point out that in their own back yard expression is anything but free...
Leeches!
before i get to the gem in this week's tms, let me let any of you newbies here up to date with us jdubs and schooling.
in the february 22, 2002 watchtower, the wtbts released the article titled "how my dream was fullfilled".
it was one of many typical jw stories of a good devout jdub "resisting temptation" and accepting the borg as absolute truth.
His response? "C'mon [torn], you know what those fossils are right? Those fossils are just decayed bones left behind from the flood."
Sad.....
lozasleft said i should introduce myself.
i wasn't happy my dad got baptized because i thought it would change him and i liked him the way he was.
anyway i got baptized in 1969 at 16 yrs old mainly because i wanted to be able to date jw girls.
Welcome to the board!
...and Good morning
for immediate release.
november 18, 2010. court ruling exposes human rights violations in bulgariaveliko tarnovo, bulgariaalbena ganeva, a member of jehovahs witnesses in the city of veliko tarnovo, has been vindicated by the courts after being subjected to slanderous accusations by her brother, miroslav ganev, a doctor of medicine.
ganev claimed that his sister was psychologically unstable as a result of her religious affiliation, and he claimed that she planned to donate her apartment to the religious community.. on november 16, 2010, the decision of the supreme court of cassation of october 21, 2010, was received.
So then 2/3 of the JW's "associates" are infact "bad association" by the JW's own standards. Some associates to brag about....

Worldwide there are some 18 million Jehovah’s Witnesses and their associates...
This also caught my eye from the text above.
Who exactly are the "associates"?
Maybe "studies", maybe Unbelieving family members, maybe lawyers and accountants?
In any event, do you see about three times more Non-witnesses than witnesses at any given time at the KH? If not, the 18 million number above is bogus...
Does someone know what "associates" are?
